📬 Let’s Build Something That Lasts
A vision for the long haul—and an invitation to help build it
Over the past few weeks, The Pastor’s Porch has grown in ways I didn’t expect. What started as a weekly reflection between mapping parcels and preaching sermons has turned into a gathering of over 130 readers—pastors, parents, and everyday Christians—pulling up a chair to reflect on grace, ministry, and small-town life.
I’m still just a bi-vocational pastor in rural Ohio, raising five kids, preaching on Sundays, and trying to be faithful in the forgotten corners of the Church.
But your replies, shares, and encouragement have reminded me:
This matters.
🍞 Why Add Paid Subscriptions?
Not because grace is for sale.
Not because I’m chasing a platform.
But because I’m chasing faithfulness—and praying for fruit.
Jesus said in John 15: “I appointed you that you should go and bear fruit—and that your fruit should remain.”
I’ve seen churches mistake mere survival for obedience.
They stay open with barely 5 people and no vision—calling it faithfulness.
But I believe real faithfulness includes fruitfulness. Not hype. Not gimmicks. But lasting impact.
That’s what I want for The Pastor’s Porch.
And that’s why, starting today, I’m opening up the option to become a paid subscriber.
🌾 A Vision Worth Building
This porch isn’t about building a brand. It’s about building the Kingdom—in overlooked places and ordinary lives.
It’s for:
Pastors in small churches who wonder if they’re making a difference
Believers quietly holding onto Jesus in places most people don’t notice
Parents raising families on tight budgets and lots of prayer
The long-term dream?
To encourage and equip rural churches and small-town pastors with weekly devotionals, practical resources, and soul-deep reminders that God is still at work in small places.
And maybe… someday… to be able to support my family through that calling full-time.
💡 What Will Stay Free
If you’ve been reading for a while, hear me loud and clear:
The Monday devotional will always be free.
This isn’t about putting hope behind a paywall.
It’s about creating more, doing it well, and inviting others to help make that possible.

🪑 Porchside Update
I’ve been overwhelmed in the best way by how many of you have responded to these weekly reflections. Your messages, shares, and encouragement mean more than you know.
Starting this week, I’ll be sharing a couple of midweek “porch visits” with all subscribers—yes, even if you’re still on the free plan.
Think of it as a sample—just to give you a taste of what’s coming for paid supporters.
After those first couple of posts, future midweek content will go out to paid subscribers only.
Also, please consider sharing The Pastor’s Porch with others who could use it.
🙏 One Final Word
Many of you saw the note I shared on Thursday—my dad passed away on Monday, June 30. It’s been a sacred, sorrowful week, and I want to thank you for the prayers, kind words, and grace. They’ve meant the world.
Also, in the middle of all that, we quietly surpassed our 100-subscriber goal for June! That milestone slipped to the back burner, but I’ll be drawing a name soon and announcing the winner of the Forward book giveaway. Thank you for sharing The Porch with others—it’s helping this ministry grow in ways I never expected.
Thanks for sitting with me on the porch.
We’re just getting started.
